5I am giving my very first LibrePlanet[1] talk today on March 20th.
6I will be talking about Jami[2], the GNU package for universal
7communication that respects the freedoms and privacy of its users.
8I'll be giving an introduction to Jami and its architecture, sharing
9important and exciting development news from the Jami team about
10rendezvous points[3], JAMS[4], the plugin SDK[5], Swarm chats[6],
11and more; and how these features help empower users to communicate
12with their loved ones without sacrificing their privacy or freedom.

21Here is the abstract for my talk, also available on the LibrePlanet
222021's speakers page[7]:
23
24 Jami is free software for universal communication that respects
25 the freedoms and privacy of its users. Jami is an official GNU
26 package with a main goal of providing a framework for virtual
27 communications, along with a series of end-user applications for
28 audio/video calling and conferencing, text messaging, and file
29 transfer.
30
31 With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, working from home has
32 become the norm for many workers around the world. More and more
33 people are using videoconferencing tools to work or communicate
34 with their loved ones. The emergence of these tools has been
35 followed by many questions and scandals concerning the privacy and
36 freedom of users.
37
38 This talk gives an introduction to Jami, a free/libre, truly
39 distributed, and peer-to-peer solution, and explains why and how
40 it differs from all other existing solutions and how it empowers
41 users.
